What we were up to in 2016 …

Music for Midwinter

Sunday 11th December 2016 at 6pm, at St Michael’s Church in Lewes

Our annual Christmas concert will be held at St Michael’s Church in Lewes. We’ll sing a selection of traditional carols, also some other festively themed pieces and some festive readings chosen & performed by our members. We’re also proud to introduce ‘The Darkling Thrush’ a new carol composed by our very own Ruth Kerr, which is a setting of Hardy’s poem of the same name. Stand aside, John Rutter … !

Please do come and join us to get into the festive spirit! We love a bit of audience participation so hearty singing voices and your own set of jingle bells welcome …

Carols at Lewes Late Night Christmas Shoppingimg_1745

Thursday 1st December 2016, 6:30 – 7:30 pm, near Barbican House on Lewes High Street

There’s no hiding it now – Christmas is approaching. While we make no apology for mentioning the ‘C’ word in November when we start rehearsing Christmas music in October, singing carols on 1st December seems fitting whatever your stance. We’ll be singing our hearts out for Lewes Late Night Christmas Shopping so be sure to give us a wave or even stop to sing along if the weather-gods are kind.

Dr Blighty – Brighton Festival Performance

6:30 – 9:30pm on 27 & 28th May 2016, Royal Pavilion Gardens

We are thrilled to be commissioned to sing as part of the brand new production Dr Blighty as part of the 2016 Brighton Festival. The production, created by performance company Nutkhut, tells the story of thousands of Indian soldiers who were injured in service during the First World War and were treated at the Royal Pavilion.

The performance(s) are free, the production is a host of immersive installations, ambient soundscapes and theatrical interludes of which we are a part. You’ll find us in the Royal Pavilion Gardens on Fri 27th & Sat 28th May from 6:30pm – 9:30pm.

We’re thrilled to be invited back for a second year running to perform as part of the annual Globe Sonnet Walks, founded by Mark Rylance and to help celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. See below for tickets for the entire walk (though they are selling fast!) We’re performing flashmob style  in a public space, so anyone is welcome to come and guess what our Shakespearean theme is before we launch into song.

15TH APRIL 2016 AT 5:30 PM

We will be enjoying the magic of singing at Chichester Cathedral again in in April and, as always, any supporters who wish to come with us to Evensong are very welcome and we’d love to have you join us for tea & cake in the Cathedral cafe before we sing.
